ICD-10

A long long time ago (well not really), when I was a little first year med school student, we had some sort of a computer class. The way I remember it was as not exactly thrilling...and actually, it seemed like my fellow class mates would agree with me.

One day, we spent over an hour basically staling at a list of the ICD-10 codes...A00=cholera, A01.0=Typhoid, A15=Tuberculosis, etc. Not exactly an exciting way to spend that much time. All the sudden, I started giggling, which seemed to result in much consternation from the person sitting next to me.

Classmate X: WTF?!
Me: This is awesone! :D
X: How the hell is this awesome?!
This is more or less how it looked like
Me: You can create really hilarious situations with them

Here are just a few:
W66.4=Drowning and submersion following  fall into bath-tub on a street or highway
I wonder if that ever happened...<_<...>_>
W52.0=Crushed, pushed or stepped on by crowd or human stampede at home
Either that or you have to have a very large house

X52.7=Prolonged stay in weightless environment on a farm
the only thing that makes sense XD
and the W99 known as the Exposure to other and unspecified man-made environmental factors...which made me think of:
I guess they have a code for just about anything no matter how crazy it sounds...You never know how someone will manage to hurt themselves ;)

Well, that's it for now dear reader, hope to see you here again soon!

Cheers!

In dire need of help

This is very hard for me...as I've been raised in a household where asking for money was seen as something shameful...but I'm in a situation where I need quite a lot of money in a relatively short amount of time. Due to reasons I really do not want to share at the moment, I will have to retake this year of med school...The problem is I have to raise $3,550, as a retake fee...I currently have no money, and my parents probably will not be able to help me much either. There is a possibility of splitting the sum into 3 or 4 installments, but nevertheless I still need to have 1/4 of it soon...

What I'm getting at is that I will be opening commissions again...and this time I will honestly draw anything anyone wants no matter what it is. I'm really desperate...

I will also be selling $6 (+s&h) A4 good quality thick paper prints of most of my previous works. Please look through my gallery and tell me if you like anything!! :) As long as I still have the file I can print it! ;) For $3 (+s&h) I can also print and mail you your commission.

Donations are also welcome; you can find a link to my paypal on the top right-hand side of this blog

Finishing med school and becoming a good doctor is a dream I've head since I was a kid...but ever since I started, life has been throwing obstacles in front of me. Nevertheless, I will not give up and I hope that I will be able to raise the sum I need...all help will be greatly appreciated.

  • EVERYONE who orders prints=lots of envelope art
  • ppl who order prints/commissions sent to them that cost over $100 will get 2-3 mini sketch commissions free sent as well

Summer internship ends...studying awaits

Hello potential reader!
I'm here to tell you a bit about my med school experience in a hopefully fun and artsy way. This entry will probably be one of the duller ones. The rest will hopefully be submitted in more of a web-comic-ish format ^_^.

One thing I really look forward to in med school are the annual summer internships. I have not yet been disappointed by them...wait...that's not putting it in the right way; actually I have not been to one that I didn't love!

I'm a visual and tactile person, meaning that I need to see and actually do things to learn them properly...plus I actually enjoy getting practical info, making internships fun for me.

Anyways, the past three weeks and a half were awesome! Very very tiring, but at the same time fulfilling and fun. There were days when there was a whole lot of running around, but at times I got some free time. Whenever I had a couple of minutes to spare (and when I wouldn't be studying) I tried to do some quick pen sketches on any random scraps of paper...sooo here's my little "collection"

I know the shading is a bit off, but I did them in the spare time I had, so the lighting would change in the meantime. :(

this last  thingy is a little card I made for the doctor I worked with. Seriously, learned a lot, had fun, and met quite a lot of very interesting people, what more can I ask for?
Now back to studying and getting ready for the new school year!

Cheers!
